A long-standing labor dispute between three former employees and CIK Cambodia Co., Ltd. has been successfully resolved through a voluntary settlement agreement reached outside the court system on 24 July 2026.
The dispute had previously been the subject of proceedings before the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance and the Phnom Penh Court of Appeal. Following discussions between the parties, they agreed to settle the matter amicably and bring all related claims to a conclusion.
As part of the agreement, the parties committed to ending the ongoing legal proceedings and resolving all outstanding issues in accordance with Cambodian law. The agreement reflects their mutual intention to move forward in a spirit of cooperation, good faith, and respect during the mediation process between Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights (CENTRAL) and Company's lawyer.
Mr. Khun Tharo, Programme Manager of CENTRAL, said: "While this is not a fully satisfactory result, we respect the workers' decision. We appreciate all partners involved in the process including Korean Transnational Corporation Watch (KTNC Watch), Business and Human Rights Centre (BHRC) and greatly appreciate the positive example set by the intervention of the Korean Government in support of workers in a Korean-owned company. We hope the workers will return to work and continue their peaceful lives and will continue monitoring the implementation of the agreement.
The resolution marks the conclusion of a case that had been pending for several years and highlights the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful dispute resolution for both workers and employers.
