Our Fight is One: A Call to End Genocide, Illegal Occupation, and for Justice in Palestine

Friday 29 August 2025

To global citizens, the United Nations and intergovernmental institutions, states, religious

leaders, human rights organizations, civil society actors, media representatives, and all those

committed to justice and peace.

August 29, 2025

With deep conviction, the Asian Civil Societies stands in steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian

people. We urgently call for a united global response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the

occupied West Bank marked by widespread civilian deaths, mass displacement, and systematic

violations of international law. The international community must act decisively to hold Israel

accountable for these grave and systematic violations of international law and human rights.

Since October 2023, over 60,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been

massacred in Gaza, with tens of thousands more injured. More than two million people have

been displaced, enduring famine, blocked humanitarian aid, and the destruction of homes,

schools, and hospitals. The West Bank has also seen escalating violence, including home

demolitions, land confiscations, and settler attacks, all in violation of international law.

Following more than 16 years of violent blockade and decades of illegal occupation, Israel has

renewed its military offensive and bombardment in Gaza since October 2023, escalating its

systematic campaign of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.

This is not simply a “conflict.” It is a sustained assault on the lives and dignity of an entire

people, deepened by a 16-year blockade and the expansion of illegal settlements. The targeting

of schools, distribution queues, journalists, medical professionals, hospitals, humanitarian

workers, and UN staff has further eroded the basic protections of international humanitarian law.

We are horrified by the widespread famine deliberately perpetrated by Israel’s ongoing blockade

in Gaza, including the denial of food, fuel, and medical supplies. This situation has worsened

since the unilateral termination of the ceasefire in March 2025, with more than 200 people,

including at least 100 children, reportedly killed due to starvation.

At the same time, violence has escalated in the occupied West Bank alongside the expansion of

illegal settlements. Since October 2023, over 950 Palestinians, including at least 200 children,

have been killed in military operations and settler-related attacks. These developments reflect a

pattern of deepening human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian Territories, in clear

contravention of international law.

Yet in this moment of crisis, far too many governments and institutions have chosen ambiguity

over action. The continued supply of arms to Israel, and the shielding of it from accountability,

undermines the rules-based international order and erodes faith in global justice mechanisms.

At the same time, we note that violations of international humanitarian law have also been

committed by Palestinian armed groups, including targeted killings and hostage-taking of

civilians. We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and for all parties

to adhere strictly to international law.

We are inspired by the growing wave of movements around the world including in Tel Aviv

calling for an end to the genocide and illegal occupation in Palestine, and for justice and the right

of self-determination for the Palestinian people. Despite efforts by some governments to restrict

or intimidate these voices, these movements continue to mobilize with courage and

determination. We stand in solidarity with them and urge all governments to respect the right to

non violent advocacy, dialogue, and accountability, rather than suppressing legitimate calls for

justice and accountability.

To this end, we urge civil society, governments, and international institutions to take

meaningful action:

1. Advocate for an immediate ceasefire and an end to military aggression against Palestinians.

2. Urge for the opening of humanitarian corridors to ensure unimpeded access to food,

sanitary products, and medical assistance.

3. Impose a global arms embargo on Israel and to end the supply of weapons to Israel

4. Hold Israel accountable for the ongoing genocide in Gaza and its continuing violations of

international law in all occupied Palestinian territories.

5. Stop criminalization of peaceful Palestine solidarity movements for demanding an end to

the genocide and illegal occupation, and calling for justice and the right self-determination for Palestinian people
