Joint Press Release: Celebration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Phnom Penh, November 24, 2023

Celebration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence under the topic “Non-Violence against Women and Girls for Economy and Social Justice”

We, a group of 20 civil society organizations (CSOs) including associations, unions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)* working to promote labor rights, women’s rights, and gender equality in Cambodia, are pleased to announce our commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2023 (hereinafter 16 Days Campaign) under the topic “Non-Violence against Women and Girls for Economy and Social Justice”.

This celebration aims to raise public awareness about the 16 Days Campaign, to allow activists and women human rights defenders (WHRDs) to raise the challenges that they have faced while using their legitimate rights and gather to voice their messages, to review and reflect the demands of the WHRDs from various sectors or rights that have put forward and draw attention to the matters that have been occurring to women and girls, and to urge the government to strictly uphold human rights for WHRDs and effectively address these issues.

Please be informed about this event and join us in celebrating through the following online and offline activities:
